About Emily
I'm Emily — psychological coach.
For most of my working life, my attention has returned to the same questions: how we understand ourselves, how identity evolves over time, and what helps us create meaningful change.
My work combines psychological insight with practical coaching, offering a thoughtful space to explore what is happening, gain clarity about what matters, and move forward with greater confidence.
Many clients arrive carrying questions they have been living with for some time. Through conversation, reflection and careful exploration, things often begin to make more sense, and the next step becomes clearer.

My professional life has never followed a straight line — and I think that's part of what makes this work feel the way it does.
After my degree I worked in an American private bank, where I saw the psychological pressures beneath high-performance environments close-up. I later built and ran a clinical aromatherapy practice — and it was there that something became clear: clients came back not just for the treatment, but for the space to think things through. The psychological support that had quietly become part of the work was, for many, its most valuable part.
That realisation shaped everything that followed.
Since then I have continued to study formally and independently across psychology, therapeutic practice, and coaching — including Jungian-informed approaches, hypnotherapy, and NLP. Alongside this, I built an internationally recognised jewellery practice, creating pieces for a global client base including public figures.
Across all of it, one thread has stayed constant: a fascination with how people think, how identity is shaped, and what lies beneath what's presented. I was captivated by this from childhood, and every chapter since has deepened it.
Alongside the formal training, what shapes the work most is the quality of attention brought to each conversation. People often arrive carrying questions or patterns they have been living with for a long time — sometimes only partly understood, sometimes never voiced quite this way before. Things often begin to make more sense when there is space to think properly, and the work develops from there.
Although The Emily Gray Practice is the formal home for this work, the work itself is not new to me. For as long as I can remember, friends, family and colleagues have often turned to me when they needed space to think things through or make sense of a situation. What has changed is not the work, but the decision to offer it openly, and to give it the focus it deserves.
A Personal Note
I created this practice because I know, from my own experience, what it means to move through real uncertainty and come out the other side with greater clarity about who you are and what you want. That understanding sits quietly beneath everything I do.
I live in England with my husband, Felix. Our daughter is reading English Literature at Durham; our son is at school in Malvern.
How I Work
My approach is integrative and always tailored to you. I draw on psychological depth and forward-focused coaching — moving fluidly between insight and action, reflection and direction, depending on what you need most.
You leave each session not just with understanding, but with clarity on how to move forward. The goal is always lasting change — small, grounded shifts that compound into something meaningful over time.
The work tends to feel direct and accurate. Not because it follows a formula, but because it is genuinely tailored — shaped around a clear and honest read of you, and what you actually need.
While women navigating midlife are at the heart of my practice, I also work with men who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Regardless of who you are or what brings you here — you will be met with precision, warmth, and genuine understanding.
I work in person in Malvern, Worcestershire, and online with clients across the UK.
What I Believe
Insight alone doesn't change anything. Understanding why you do something is useful — but it's only the beginning. What matters is what happens next: the moment understanding becomes movement, and movement becomes change you can actually feel in your life.
Every session is designed with that in mind. You won't leave with vague reflections to sit with — you'll leave with something real. A shift in how you see things. A practical tool you can use. A clearer sense of what matters most, and what comes next.
I also believe, deeply, that you are the expert on your own life. My job is not to tell you who to be or what to want. It is to help you hear yourself more clearly — and to trust what you hear.
The changes that last are often quieter than people expect. They're grounded, considered, and built to hold. Small shifts that compound. A different relationship with your own thinking. A steadier sense of who you are. Over time, that adds up to something that feels genuinely different — not a version of yourself you're performing, but one you've actually grown into.
